Lesson Description

In this ESL lesson plan for adults and teens, students watch a short documentary and do a listening exercise about the cultural similarities & differences between the USA and Canada. It includes discussion questions and conversation activities about American and Canadian culture. Students also learn some important vocabulary terms and phrases from the video. The post-viewing section includes a CCQ discussion activity based on vocabulary featured in the video, as well as conjunction/preposition context usage. The grammar section features the usage of the conjunctions "despite" and "while". There is a country comparison activation, additional speaking tasks, and a quiz and review section included.

Video Description

The United States and Canada share the longest un-militarized international border in the world. It's over 8,800 kilometers long!! But what about the cultures of both countries? Are they the same or different? The answer is a little bit of both, and in this video, Drew Binsky shares some facts on two of his favorite nations in the world.
