Lesson Description

In this Business English lesson plan for adults, students watch and listen to a short demonstration of a man responding to the question, "Tell me about yourself" in a job interview. It focuses on the mistakes he makes and the right way to respond to this in a job interview. It includes discussion questions, and conversation and vocabulary activities about job interviews. Students then do some listening/viewing comprehension activities based on the video. The viewing follow-up includes some additional discussion, an activity on some of the phrases used in the video, and additional questions that applicants might be asked at a job interview. There is additional job interview role play. There is a quiz & review as well as a lesson reflection included.

Video Description

We know, talking about yourself is a little hard, but it's kind of the point of an interview. You may be tempted to tell your whole life story, but don't. Interviewers really don't want to hear it. Take a look at this guide on what NOT to say, and how to answer interview questions.
