Lesson Description

In this ESL lesson plan for adults and teens, students watch a video and do a listening exercise about snowkiting. It includes discussion questions and conversation activities about snowkiting, adventure sports, and winter sports. Students learn some important vocabulary terms from the video. The post-viewing section includes activities on missing prefixes, suffixes, and syllables, as well as a smaller grammar section using "get" + past participle for the passive voice. The grammar activity features activities on uncountable nouns. There are additional speaking tasks included, as well as a quiz and review section.

Video Description

Snowkiting has become a big hit in parts of Alaska, and has been growing in recent years. The growth of the sport is due to the efforts of Tom Fredericks, who helped start the snowkiting legacy, established the first snowkiting school in Alaska, and organizes a snowkiting festival every year.
