In the following activity students rewrite some ideas using these present perfect participial phrases. They give their own example in number 4.
In this communicative activation activity, students start by assessing their desire to accumulate wealth on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 indicating no desire and 5 indicating a very high desire. They then pair up with a classmate or their teacher to share and explain their chosen numbers. Depending on their scores, students will discuss specific questions designed to explore their motivations, concerns, and plans regarding wealth accumulation.
Those who scored 1-2 will discuss alternative goals, potential downsides of wealth, handling unexpected wealth, and non-wealth-related financial goals.
Those who scored 3-5 will discuss their motivations for accumulating wealth, current or potential strategies to achieve their goals, the impact of wealth on their lives and those around them, and alternative life goals if their wealth aspirations are not met.
