Lesson Description

In this ESL lesson plan for adults and teens, students watch and listen to a short video guide on hiking gear and essentials, and what to bring on a hiking trip. It includes discussion, conversation, and vocabulary activities about hiking and hiking gear. Students then do some listening/viewing comprehension activities based on the video. The viewing follow-up includes some additional discussion, an activity on a quote from the video using "get + [adjective]" to express a change in state, and a follow-up activity using "get + [adjective]". There is an additional Hiking Plan & Gear Shopping task, as well as a quiz & review and lesson reflection included.

Video Description

Dominique Granger, a Salomon ambassador and all-round nature lover, provides some solid advice on the kind of gear hikers should take with them for a great day out. By making sure you bring all the essentials you’re guaranteed to spend the day enjoying the beauty of nature in total freedom. Shoes, breathable clothing, protection from the elements, backpack, food, water, GPS… Dominique provides a list of everything you’ll need.
