Lesson Description

In this ESL lesson plan for adults and teens, students watch a video and do a listening exercise on a news report about the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. It includes discussion questions, conversation, and other activities about the coronavirus / COVID-19. Students learn some important vocabulary words, phrases, and expressions from the video. The grammar activity features the usage and functions of present participles [-ing] in different parts of speech. There is a quiz and review with a bonus activity included.

Several countries across continents are closing borders and major cities with millions of people are under lockdown. Governments around the world are promoting "social distancing" as one of the ways to stop the coronavirus pandemic from spreading.
